I feel it in my fingers

I've realized, across the years, that the best way to get through the day is to find something to look forward to each day. Everything goes much quicker and happier from there. And if you look close enough, you'll see you'll find that thing very fast. Each and every day. I did that all through college and college turned out awesome. Last semester, each day I counted the days left to go back home to India. This semester, for the last two weeks, it's been the Pro.

WHICH IS HERE!!

Look at me, I'm smiling! :)

Break on through to the other side!

Well this post is coming a a little early this year, I think. But a 31st December-1st January would require the routine resolution post.

It is kind of a unbelievably predictable end-of-the-year-oh-my-God-did-I-say-year-I-meant-decade-post. And I'm doing the typing at the most un-me time, 5.30 a.m. I can't sleep. I can actually hear someone walking across my corridor right now. I wonder where she's going; the campus is closed. So is the library; I would know. I should probably sleep.

Ah, well.

Act 1 scene 1

Why 2009 has been a fantastic year!

- I turned 22. Best. Age. Ever.
- Discovering Gokarna.
- And, surviving the car crash to get there!
- Discovering Udaipur.
- And of course, discovering Los Angeles. The Grove, Americana, Hollywood, everything!
- I almost forgot. Discovering, Las wait-for-it Vegas! I just realized there was no post-Vegas post. Haha post-Vegas post sounds funny!
- The piercing. I'm probably going to put up a picture in the morning. I feel like sharing!
- John Mayer. And, Battle Studies.
- Zach Braff. Man, these names are going to be repeated indefinitely on this blog!
- USC
- The end of VTU.
- Meeting Perplexed. It seems so long ago, no?
- Inglourious Basterds!
- The living alone experience. (Album coming out soon, lol.)
- Mango Showers!
- The yet-to-come seven days of Christmas!
- The roommates. :)
- John Mayer. Sigh.
- The Victoria Secrets stuff I bought. Well, after all that unavoidable-humping I received from school, I deserved a little pampering, didn't I? Well, to be honest, I don't care if you think otherwise. Its really cutesy and un-pink! Eeeeee! :)
- Leavey library. Yes. I. Said. It. And, dude.

Why the 20-something years have been an AWESOME decade.

- Above.
- Well, we got from younger (read-lame), to older, smarter, awesomer!
- Arctic Monkeys. Deathcab For Cutie. John Mayer. Audioslave. Blue Judy. This list will go on forever.
- This one will too. That 70's Show. Scrubs. Greys Anatomy. Entourage.
- The first laptop. And the first phone.
- Turning 18.
- Facebook.
- Blogger.
- The first piercing!
- The Departed!

Sorry to end this abruptly.

Act 1, Scene 2. December 24th.

A few things are the same. Like, it is still 5.30 am. And I can't sleep.

Everything else is beautiful.
I'M IN THE MOTHERLAND. I'm home home home! And I don't really know if this is jetlag or what, but I don't really care! I'm listening to the new Snow Patrol single, Just Say Yes, and very very happy!

Continuing to why 20-something was an awesome decade!

- I came home for Christmas! I suddenly understand what all those Christmas songs were trying to say!

I cannot think of anything else in that category right now, so lets move on.

Act 1 scene 3.

Why 2010 is going to be a fantabulous year!!

Well, it just is.

You know it and I know it and the entire universe knows its going to be awesome!! So lets do our part and make it totally unbelievable! Its going to take all the positive thinking and being-awesome that's in us and put it out there and see the magic unfold! (Really, what do I sound like right now!?)

Ok, I'm signing off now.

Free fallin'

Please note - Any comments dissing anyone mentioned in this post WILL NOT be published.

So if you read this blog, or actually, just a post or two here and there, you'd know that I'm completely and hopelessly in love with John Mayer. The reason being, he's totally AWESOME! Like, totally. The dude created a word, for heaven's sake! And his rendition of Free Fallin' is just wowwie wow! Check that out here.

So, I'd like to tell you about my day.

By the way, my exams are over! They went decently, so I'm fairly happy! So right now I'm in the chilling mode.
Anyway, so me and my roommates, V and A decided to go out today. First we decided to go shopping, but then we decided to go to Hollywood instead. (Yeah I can say that all matter-of-factly, now!) So we did. We went to school, caught a tram to Union Station and caught a train to Hollywood. (Yes, this post will have a LOT of details. It just adds to the awesomeness!) We went to the Kodak theatre and the Chinese theatre, and fell in love with the place all over again! Then we decided to go souvenir shopping. Unfortunately we didn't find any cheap stores so we decided to look for some other stores.

So we were walking and looking around and suddenly we saw this line. And looked around; it was a line for the Jimmy Kimmel Show! And A looked at the board and she saw that the guest was Zach Braff. Now, I LOVE Zach Braff! I do. He's been awesome in the first seven seasons of Scrubs! And noone else can do JD as well as he can. So I went and asked the guy incharge what we could do to get in if we didn't have tickets. He said we could form a second line and after they let the people with the tickets in, if there were more seats, they'd think about letting us in.

Then A called me and asked me if I hadn't seen the board carefully, and for this, I love her! The last two line on the board read, 'music by - John Mayer'! No, really!!! John Mayer was going to be on the show. There was no way I could miss the show! So we went and stood in line! For thirty minutes we stood in anticipation. Would we, wouldn't we, would we, wouldn't we? And guess what!?

We did!!!! We made it!! We were in! We were going to see Jimmy Kimmel, Zach Braff and JOHN MAYER! I died and went to heaven right there! I did. We went for the show. My throat is now sore after screaming! We saw Zach Braff on the show! He is really really cute! And totally funny! And awesome. Then there was this other dude from So you think you can dance. And of course, Jimmy Kimmel himself. And after a a LOT of screaming and clapping and waiting, they led us out of the studio through the exit. I nearly died. I mean, they couldn't send us out without giving us what they promised!

Then we had our own private John Mayer concert!!!!!!!!!!

I have NEVER EVER been this happy in my whole entire life! I've seen John Mayer. I've heard him play live. My life is complete now. If someone murdered me today, I would so die in peace. The show went of for just twenty minutes, but I saw John Mayer today, and it was TOTALLY unexpected. He played Heartbreak Warfare, Half of My Heart and Who Says from Battle Studies, and Vultures and Waiting on the World To Change from Continuum. Oh my God, I've never been happier! December 15th, 2009 is a date I will remember for the rest of my life!

I officially LOVE LA!

Plus its December; see I told you December was going to be awesome!

Also, the power of belief. To all those who don't believe, optimism, REALLY DOES WORK! It does. So, all you people out there, believe! And it shall happen!

I saw John Mayer today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And here are two of my favourite pictures!

Happiness!! :) Aren't you glad I shared?

The highs, the lows, the maybe's, the damnits and the hell yeah's!

I wish I were 18.

Even though 22 has been my favourite age by far, I still can't help wanting to be 18, going back to a simpler time. Actually thinking, a simpler time would be, say 3, but that's kind of impractical. Not that this isn't, but still.

I would've done so many things differently.

For starters, I would've insisted on shifting to another city and living in a hostel, because right now I'm too spoilt and too used to home to be anywhere else. Put me in a deserted island and ask me what I'd take with me and the answer is an inflatable boat which would get me back home. Not Jude Law, not John Mayer. A boat.

I would've made an actual attempt at learning to play the guitar. I have a guitar. And. I cannot play it. Unless you count playing every song with the C, G, D chords, then yes. I am the next Hendrix. And don't say atleast you learnt that much. Its not much, not much at all.

No surprises here. I would have taken up a design course. I'm not an expert at any form of design right now, and I'm not saying that NID or NIFT would be laying out red carpets for me. But if I'd known then, that, computers aren't as cool as they're made out to be (no offense to anyone) (well actually, computers are pretty cool and I don't see myself without one, but I don't see myself sitting in front of one all the time, either), then I wouldn't have decided to go (settle) with engineering.

And, the crush I had on that 19 year old would seem anything but ick. I know. And, don't judge me. :-|

I would not have been a moody pain-in-the-ass. I was impossible back then. I got angry easily, fought with people for really stupid reasons (some of whom I'm still not speaking to) and got way too attached to people. Trust me, if you know me now, I'm much better. Yes, the mood swings used to be more frequent, longer in duration and none of them ended well. Note. I did not cry. Not then, not now. I was born with a heart of stone. I don't know how my friends were friends with me.

I would have, in capitals, bold and italics, THROWN, my cellphone off some mountain.

But now that I am 22, never lived in a hostel, an amateur at playing the guitar, an engineer (God, it still feels weird saying that), LESS moody and still with a cellphone, there are things I wouldn't dream of changing.

Staying home. Any other college's hostel would be OK. But the hostel in the college I studied in, big no-no. According to my friends, their warden was Hitler. No kidding.

Well, I didn't learn the guitar. But I can sing. Which doesn't change anything, but does make things slightly better, no? Yes.

Engineering. Ah, its a love-hate relationship, really. Hate the degree, hate the courses, hated the teachers, hated that they made us come to college on Sunday to compensate for some other suddenly-declared holiday, hated internals, hated externals, really HATED lab externals. But then, all the bunking, bitching, sleeping in classes, eating in classes, fighting for internal marks, fighting with teachers for everything, pretending to listen, doing anything but listening in class, drawing instead of taking notes, getting thrown out of class, going out after college, alcohol, that lake near college, NICE road, Dance dance Revolution. The list continues, and I'm going to mention just about everything I can remember. M's desserts, karting, being in a band, movies at Forum, Wii at R's place, sleepovers at K's place, sports day at S' place, messing up P's and B's place, and V's and D's and just about every alphabet's place, shopping for gifts, BIRTHDAYS, SURPRISES, TREATS, B.U, Gokarna, Udaipur, GOA, pulling everyone's legs, getting my legs pulled (sorry A, if you actually read this), everything! I'll miss it all, not the getting my legs pulled so much, but really I'll miss it all. And come to think about it, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

Ah, that 19 year old. Someday when I'm 99 and he's 96, it'll hardly make a difference, yeah? (pathetic, pathetic)

And the moody bit. I think we can all agree (by we, I mean those of you who actually know me), I've gotten better over the 4 years. And if you expected more, screw you. You aren't perfect either. Yeah, the rude bit won't ever change, so get used to it.

As for the cellphone, prank calls and prank-messages kind of make up for it. :)

Oh. Lookie here. Turns out, I was fine all along.

Sitting, waiting, wishing!

Three days from now, and my second holiday begins!

Ah, don't give me dirty looks, readers. This is a much-awaited, long overdue, well-deserved holiday!

*but two trips??*

Man, I don't even know how to answer that. This holiday has been in planning for the past two years, and finally it materializes, after a lot of arguments, misunderstandings, project hassles and what not! But finally, I'm going to Udaipur!!!! All credit goes to Ms. Hide 'n Seek here! :):)

*Eeeeeee! I cannot wait!!!*

I knew March was going to be awesome!

The only thing I'm scared of is getting a second layer of the darkened body suit, which has failed to absent itself after the Gokarna trip. (A friend of mine was actually told that to view her photo, the brightness level on the monitor had to be increased to 95%!) But I'm going, I'm going I'm going!

At the end of the month, I'll have a things-I-did-in-March-09 list.

But wait, I won't be here end of March!!! I'll be in Udaipur!! Haaah!!!!

So, until then(or before, if I do decide to blog), love me two times, I'm going away!!!

New shoes, people, places, everything!

OK, OK, its now my turn.

The last seven days have been awesome. Very VERY eventful and very very different.

The first three days were spent in Gokarna. Which is the most awesome place EVER. I completely recommend. Its a very cheap place, money wise and completely chilled out. All you need to do is adjust to the idea of slightly uncomfortable accommodation. But that too has a charm of its own. Its got the most beautiful and fun beaches with just the right number of people. And the food! Oh, the food is just amazing! The food is where you'll actually do all the spending!

I will now stop talking about the place or I'll never stop.

Thursday and Friday went in project work which was also awesome because we actually managed to do something, and not look like total idiots! Well it did start off like that, but at the end of the day, we realized we aren't AS stupid as we thought we were.

Saturday was awesome! We have this thing in college called a Distinction award ceremony. Where FCD students are given book coupons to redeem. We wore sari and all that jazz. And looked very very pretty *blushes modestly* And then we went to M's place. She was treating us to home made desserts. I swear to God, you all have to make friends with M just for her desserts, because they are literally out of this world!! There was Apple Crumble, Choco-brick, chocolate brownies, Black-currant souffle, Strawberry cheesecake and strawberries with ice cream. I gorged up on so much of it that I couldn't have dinner afterwards! Thank you, M! You are AWESOME!

Then comes Sunday. By now, my mom is really pissed that I'm never at home, so I have to lie to her that I'm going out to get project work done. Because if I tell her that I'm going to meet someone I actually met over the internet, she'd flip! Like actually flip. Also, this person I met wasn't someone out of any online dating service or anything! It's wait-for-it Perplexed! This was something I'd NEVER do. I have this one friend who actually went and met this dude she'd met on Hi5 (Remember Hi5?! Seems so ancient!). And I remember having given her numerous lectures about doing the same. And here I was, deciding to meet up with a complete stranger. But then again, I had R with me, just incase anything went wrong! (Just kidding, Perplexed!)

It was fun!! Perplexed turned out to be completely different from what I expected her to be, and me being brutally honest, told her that too! And then, TheB actually turned out to be someone we knew!! Talk about coincidences!!! The rest of the evening has been extensively covered here and here, so I will move on. Also, TwinBitch, I think you should start blogging!

The coolest part of it all was the rain after I went home! I went and bheego-fied in it! And then I realized it was 15th March, my bloggiversary! (Yes, I remember stuff like this!) And my first post was about getting wet in the first rain of the season! So yaayyy!! Hurray for the rains!!!!!!!

There is no proper ending to this post, so this is going to be it.

I have many many drafts lined up, but this day calls for a celebration. You may not think so, you may not know so, but it will be, like it has been for the very many years of your life, the best day ever.

*warning - high adrenaline levels*

The awesomeness levels will peak today, and there will be great unexplained deviations in all natural occurences. Did I say unexplained? Sorry. I meant there will be very obvious no-need-to-be-explained changes in the aforementioned events.(Did I say sorry? Scratch that. The Gods never apologize.)

It is, the happiest, greatest and the one day you all have been waiting for, all year long. It comes once a year, and be glad it does only that one time, because only the most awesome, nay, the AWESOME-ST people can handle the levels of brilliance this day brings. And that number, sad to say, is very less, and carefully hand-picked by yours truly.

It is, my birthday.

And that makes everything self-explanatory.

You may now disperse.

Here's to you, Muthalik!

Three days to Febraury 14th. The only thing that excites me is that I get to give away these.

So, these are for you, for the next three days.

Anything but...

And, finally, for the 14th. You like that, whore!

Up yours, bitch!

A big shout-out going out to...

Sarcastica - Wow! I just came across her blog, and I loved it! She's just 19, and of late, very very pregnant! I loved the way she writes, very neat. Go check it out!

Marley and Me - I *heart* the movie!!! The doggie is just soooo cute!! And contrary to the initial hype, the movie is less about Jennifer Aniston and more about Owen Wilson. And the doggie! Plus it has Eric Dane a.k.a McSteamy in it!

Coin runner in Funky stadium - is the best passtime ever! The burrow rocks! Closely followed by Guitar Hero! Which is super-awesome!

S - for buying what she did! I'm too proud of you for having done it!

Ben Lee - Catch my disease is the most feel-good song of the season. And it was featured on Scrubs, the latest season. Which made me feel-even-more-good!

Scrubs -The latest season is definitely better than season 7, which was bull crap! Plus it has Courtney Cox in it! Woohoo! Three cheers to Bill Lawrence!

Pregnancy - My CN tacher is pregnant, and she hates me, so I won't have to look at her face in the final semester *fingers crossed* God is awesome!!

Ed Westwick - *all hail*

and finally,
A R Rahman - for winning the Golden Globe. I still have to watch Slumdog Millionaire, though. Can't wait!!

Ghajini

It was a happy day for me, I caught Ghajini. First day some second or third show.

Three words. GO WATCH IT.

Before I begin, I'd like to tell you that most of this review will be very biased towards Aamir Khan, because I have been in love with him since I was five years old.

The movie is brilliantly made. Sure, the story is rather unbelievable, but then again, its a Bollywood movie. It keeps you on the edge of your chair, chewing your nails for the complete duration of three and a half hours. Aamir Khan has done an extremely commendable job, portraying Sanjay Singhania, who is, as the villain calls him, a sh-oort term memory loss patient, and an extremely violent one at that. This is one of the few action films Aamir has done, and after Ghajini, he's a certified badass! But what puzzled me was how he became a left hander all of a sudden. Kalpana, the love of Sanjay's life, was played by Asin, a newcomer, whose role is very comparable to Kareena in Jab We Met, and most Priety Zinta roles; a happy, slightly mad, overly talkative blissfully-unaware-about-everything kind of girl. It was nicely done, though her Tamil accent was obvious in a few scenes. But she totally played her role to the part. Jiah Khan was so-so. The only proper dialogue she had throughout the movie was, 'Hi I'm Sunita. I'm a medical student.' Pradeep Rawat is the villain here, as in the Tamil version(you may remember him as the Surd in Lagaan), and yes, he's a super cunning and vile one at that. The film is very graphic (my mom had her eyes shut for very many scenes) and there certainly is a lot of violence in it, though its nothing if you've gotten used to Body of Lies and the likes.

The music, by A R Rahman, speaks for itself. Most of the songs were dream sequences, but songs kind of make or break the Bollywood movie. My favourite was Aye Bachchu and Behka. Guzaarish, I thought was very Suraj Hua Madham. But A R Rahman, as usual has done a superb job. Three cheers!

I give the movie a 4.5/5. Its a must watch. Definitely worth watching in an in-between exams study break, and a very well spent break, at that. Completely worth getting sandwiched for an hour in an attempt to buy tickets. Oh, and the eight pack was highlighted too much, I tell you. Methinks a six pack might've looked much better! But, Ab jaao jaake dekho!

My friend came to me, with sadness in his eyes
He told me that he wanted help
Before his country dies..

This is taken from the song Bangladesh -George Harrisson. The first few lines were supposedly said to him by Pt. Ravi Shankar.

Its been nearly thirty years since, and it looks like people are saying the same thing again, just not sure who the plea is to be directed towards.

It so unsettling, so bloody unsettling, the things that are happening! Last night, when I heard, I only thought of it as minor attacks, like the ones in Bangalore. The morning came as a real shocker! It was still on!! The Taj, for Heaven's sake! The beautiful Taj! And CST. Seriously, haven't they done enough?! Hasn't that city been through enough!!? And it bounces back, EVERY SINGLE TIME! The initial blasts, the recent train blasts, everything. What does that say? You can't do nothing, you bastards! You cant do nothing! You can never conquer Bombay! Bombay shall always, always be alive! You terrorists will all die such painful deaths. Curses shall be upon you, curses of mothers whose sons and daughters you shot down, curses of wives whose husbands you took away.. And curses of children, oh yes, the curses of children, who you left orphaned! And you are going to die. Each one of you, but you knew that already. And your stupid demands will never be met!

Its just sad that our country, our fine country, is in such an impossible situation. Security wise. And everything points to the political system. Its true that the citizens are responsible for the political conditions, but what can be done, when each and every politician is corrupt. When all each can think of, is about his personal security, his money, his car, his safe, his bank account! And they're elected to support the country. There's a certain level of selfishness in all of us, but there's a fucking limit!

Even sadder is that, these bastard terrorists are educated. They're like us! Except they're so fucking retarded and brainwashed! They went to college like us, bunked classes, fell in and out of love, had fun. They were people. People like us. People who had a brain, and people who thought for themselves. Until they were taken over. Don't get me wrong. They are to blame. Not them, who got them brainwashed. They are to blame, whatever the reason might be, personal, political, whatever!

Whats scary is that, it could've been any place. Any city. Any building. Any person. After the Bangalore blasts, cars were checked. I'll admit, it was mighty inconvenient, but now I truly get why it was necessary. But its so carelessly done. Which terrorist, in his right mind would leave ammunition, in some place free for everyone to see! The security system needs some serious reconstruction!

I just watched the news, and someone on it said, Bombay might not recover. Oh no. Bombay is above everything, Bombay has a soul. Bombay will definitely bounce back. The incident will NEVER be forgotten, people will not stop talking about it, but, it will be healed! Bombay is awesome, Bombay is beautiful, Bombay will continue to be..

Why alcohol, when you have air, and S!!

So let me tell you all the story of my awesome day..

Today was the first and last day of my internals, because, given that I'm awesome, I had to give just one paper this time. I did AWESOMELY, thank you for asking! If I don't get a 25, I'm going to seriously sue.

I made a new friend today! Guess who? My HOD! We're now tight. No, seriously. We had a one hour long chat today, about general stuff, wherein she asked me if she was strict. And then we had another twenty minute conversation where I pointed out that she was 'rigid' and not strict. There was also lots of laughing at her, with her!! I came out, scared of myself.

Then I watched Dostana with my friends. Perplexed, you were right! It was awesome!! And Urvashi is awesome!! We actually danced to Desi Girl! What a kickass song!!!! Its still running in my head. P and V were very embarrassed to be seen with us. Wow! Abhishek Bachchan is normally an ass, but he's seriously outdone himself in the movie! And Priyanka Chopra is good too. John Abraham cant really act, but he's done a decent job in the movie. The emotional scenes are a little dragging, but the movie is really good! Its totally nonsensical and total timepass. You come out feeling super good about yourself!! And wanting to dance!

I went to Corner House. This is what the title is all about. You know how people get high on alcohol, and do and say absolute crap! Crap that can totally be used to embarrass them!? Well something like that happened. Minus the booze.

But before you read ahead, let me warn you about something. I have a gift. I can make the funniest thing sound supremely unfunny. And what happened was really really funny!

There, I said it. Don't say I didn't warn you! So 'S' went crazy today!! Now, she has no idea I'm taking this online! She had Cake Fudge at corner house. Just that. And she totally lost it. Completely. She was throwing glasses of water on her boyfriend for absolutely no reason! And she did a 'dhak dhak' like step to indicate CPR. Then there was her talking about white 'chaddies'! OK, I'm going to stop, I'm ruining it already!

Anyway, here's some advice.

1. Watch Dostana.

2.Don't ever watch movies in Vision Cinemas.

3. Screw alcohol, drink chocolate sauce instead.

4. Make friends with your HOD!

Adios!:)

Oh, oh and thanks A for the ice cream!!

*Ik lakh lakh pardesi girl, aint nobody liiike my desi girl*

Dancing with the stars...

You know what you need to make a perfect day, or rather, the day perfect?

This.

Along with,

this!

DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION!!

The cool thing about this, is that, anyone can play it! Girl, or boy(though most I know, consider themselves too macho to indulge in it! They're all still dying to try though!!!), kid or adult, someone who can dance or someone who can't(trust me, this comes from someone who looks like a hippopotamus learning ballet! Not a pretty sight.), and a lot of other categories, I can't think of right now..

And the best part, dancing basically is an exercise right, so what a way to burn all of them calories away! Without even having to know how to dance. The only downside is that you'll be bad in the beginning, but then, in no time, you will be awesome!! Plus there are songs like Tubthumping and Saints go Marching too!! And plus its cheap, lol.

So put on your dancing shoes(or not!), and dance like no-one's watching!! *We'll be singing, when we're winning*

PS- Listen to Edge of the Ocean - Ivy. Brilliant

The best medicine...hell yeah!!!

Do you know what it feels like to be made to laugh when you're drinking water, and then ending up laughing so hard the water goes up your to your nose and you end up coughing and spluttering!?

I do!

OK, its not that big. But shit, for two minutes there, I didn't know where I was, or what the hell was going on around me! It was beyond any high I'd ever experienced!!!! It was awesome! For the first time in my life, I laughed till I cried! And that too, for something really really trivial.
But I've figured one thing..planning is useless! Going with the flow works out to be the best!
And laugh!! Whenever you can! Its magical, seriously!!
