City Love

I promise I wont make this sappy or corny or full of stuff about how I miss home.

Well, atleast I'll try not to.

I watched two movies today. After God knows how long! Actually after yesterday. But THAT was after God knows how long! So quick movie reviews!

He's just not that into you - Contrary to the various negative reviews I heard about this one, I actually found this one pretty decent. Minus the Drew Barrymore parts. Those were bullshit. I actually watched it because of my new-found love for Kevin Connolly, but really really liked Justin Long at the end of it. BUT women are not like 'Gigi'. Period.

The AnswerMan - Different. Not great but nice. LOVED Lauren Graham in it. And I kept thinking the protagonist was Dave Coulier, he wasn't.

(500) Days of Summer - Like the narrator says, this is a boy-girl story but it isn't a love story. I liked this one. Very much. Awesome performances and story line and a really really good soundtrack. Watch!

Coraline - Animated. Horror, kind of. Nice. Its got Teri Hatcher playing a kind of witch in it.

Waiting for Shrek 4! According to my Graphics prof, who works at Dreamworks, its the craziest, whackiest Shrek ever! Yaaiy!

I have been geeking out lately. Our latest assignment was Youtube related so I actually go to my homework page to listen to music of late. Also I really want t show off my awesomeness, so please visit this. Much help was provided by my roommate, A. So, much thanks to her!

On the life front, I've decided to give alcohol a well-deserved break, atleast for a month or two. I miss home too much and the tequila consumption really clouds my judgement and makes me do rubbish things to make up for that. And the next morning is always the next evening! So, adios, CH3OH, C2H5OH and the likes. You will not be missed. I bet my roommates will be real glad to read that. But they don't read this, so too bad.

I'm visiting Vegas over the weekend. Think I should push the above break by a week? Or does Vegas come with a default don't-give-a-shit pass? I guess I will let Vegas decide that for itself. And I'm going with two older brothers. Hopefully they will take care of my expenses. :)

I'm going to miss Halloween in LA! Damn!

My friends told me not to stop blogging, but I think I should throw the advice right back at them. So yeah, Ramya and Akaash, give work a break and come with a super post! Go go go!

On a crazy mental note, this is one of my classmates. Looking at his CV really made me question everything! And he's our age! God so did not spend the same amount of time on all of us!

I'm leaving you all with this. Watch the last 4 minutes of the video. Its awesome! I seriously new respect for Surds after this! Look how happy they look!

Just so you don't forget.....ME!

Yes. Its official. I'm on a blogger's block. Its not as bad as this dude's though. But I can't think of anything. Its not like I'm super busy or anything. I'm just really really lazy and really really REALLY jobless! I love it!

*What're you doing?*

Quoting Ms. Hide n Seek, "NOTHING!!!!" *yes it does feel great to be able to say that!*

Other than that, I'm quite confused too. Confused about where to go from here. Do an M.S, work for a year, do design, there are just too many forks! And being jobless instigates the thought process with a bang. Thinking does no good either, every night I fall asleep, the same confused soul I woke up as. *help!*

On the movie front, I've been keeping myself busy. So quick reviews:

Bolt: Watch watch watch. Simply ADORABLE. Disney movie. 'Nuf said!

Terminator Salvation: OK. Timepass. Nice effects. Good ol' Arnie makes a special appearance and all!

August Rush: Nice. Predictable. Not super, but decent. Starring Jonathan Rhys Myers. I absolutely loved him in Bend it Like Beckham.

Fireflies in the Garden: Watch. Cryptic and all, but nice. Ryan Reynolds, Julia Roberts. Also, William Dafoe stars in it(Norman Osbourne from Spiderman). I don't know about you, but I can't somehow stand the guy!

Role Models: Paul Rudd, Sean William Scott. OK. Watch if you're really bored. But they have a land called Kiss-man-thia! And Paul Rudd as Gene Simmons looks really cute!

Hard Candy: Ellen Page. WATCH. IN BIG FAT CAPS. WOW! Ellen Page is just bloody brilliant. Man, new respect for her.

10 Things I hate About You: For the 10th time :) I miss Heath Ledger. Sigh. :'(

Haffun you guys!

Hey, Big Guy up there!

*maybe, just MAYBE God reads this blog*

Dear God,

I need you to do some things for me. Clean up my absolutely cluttered mind filled with so many decisions, and show me what to do. I'm indecisive because you chose me to be so, and now I need help. So, help me. Help me choose my plan A, plan B and plan C correctly because I can't. And I'm running out of time, here. Not cool (pardon the lingo). :( That's not to much to ask, is it?

While you're at that, I also need some granting of wishes, answering of prayers etc. The things I'm sure I want, those things I want. They say you listen to kids, and that, I am not. But doesn't still looking like one count? Its not like I'm asking for world peace, y'know. They're all small things, little minute things that don't even matter to people who aren't me. So yeah, the world wont end if you make them happen. Things are not looking up, and You need to make them do so. And I don't ask you for stuff everyday. Just once in a while. You gotta agree, I'm pretty reasonable like that. And I even say Thank You at the end of it!

So God, here's ending this on a happy note, hope you will make me super happy soon.

Thank You God for everything!
Amen

New shoes, people, places, everything!

OK, OK, its now my turn.

The last seven days have been awesome. Very VERY eventful and very very different.

The first three days were spent in Gokarna. Which is the most awesome place EVER. I completely recommend. Its a very cheap place, money wise and completely chilled out. All you need to do is adjust to the idea of slightly uncomfortable accommodation. But that too has a charm of its own. Its got the most beautiful and fun beaches with just the right number of people. And the food! Oh, the food is just amazing! The food is where you'll actually do all the spending!

I will now stop talking about the place or I'll never stop.

Thursday and Friday went in project work which was also awesome because we actually managed to do something, and not look like total idiots! Well it did start off like that, but at the end of the day, we realized we aren't AS stupid as we thought we were.

Saturday was awesome! We have this thing in college called a Distinction award ceremony. Where FCD students are given book coupons to redeem. We wore sari and all that jazz. And looked very very pretty *blushes modestly* And then we went to M's place. She was treating us to home made desserts. I swear to God, you all have to make friends with M just for her desserts, because they are literally out of this world!! There was Apple Crumble, Choco-brick, chocolate brownies, Black-currant souffle, Strawberry cheesecake and strawberries with ice cream. I gorged up on so much of it that I couldn't have dinner afterwards! Thank you, M! You are AWESOME!

Then comes Sunday. By now, my mom is really pissed that I'm never at home, so I have to lie to her that I'm going out to get project work done. Because if I tell her that I'm going to meet someone I actually met over the internet, she'd flip! Like actually flip. Also, this person I met wasn't someone out of any online dating service or anything! It's wait-for-it Perplexed! This was something I'd NEVER do. I have this one friend who actually went and met this dude she'd met on Hi5 (Remember Hi5?! Seems so ancient!). And I remember having given her numerous lectures about doing the same. And here I was, deciding to meet up with a complete stranger. But then again, I had R with me, just incase anything went wrong! (Just kidding, Perplexed!)

It was fun!! Perplexed turned out to be completely different from what I expected her to be, and me being brutally honest, told her that too! And then, TheB actually turned out to be someone we knew!! Talk about coincidences!!! The rest of the evening has been extensively covered here and here, so I will move on. Also, TwinBitch, I think you should start blogging!

The coolest part of it all was the rain after I went home! I went and bheego-fied in it! And then I realized it was 15th March, my bloggiversary! (Yes, I remember stuff like this!) And my first post was about getting wet in the first rain of the season! So yaayyy!! Hurray for the rains!!!!!!!

There is no proper ending to this post, so this is going to be it.

Monday, March 2, 2009

I have many many drafts lined up, but this day calls for a celebration. You may not think so, you may not know so, but it will be, like it has been for the very many years of your life, the best day ever.

*warning - high adrenaline levels*

The awesomeness levels will peak today, and there will be great unexplained deviations in all natural occurences. Did I say unexplained? Sorry. I meant there will be very obvious no-need-to-be-explained changes in the aforementioned events.(Did I say sorry? Scratch that. The Gods never apologize.)

It is, the happiest, greatest and the one day you all have been waiting for, all year long. It comes once a year, and be glad it does only that one time, because only the most awesome, nay, the AWESOME-ST people can handle the levels of brilliance this day brings. And that number, sad to say, is very less, and carefully hand-picked by yours truly.

It is, my birthday.

And that makes everything self-explanatory.

You may now disperse.

In Rachel Green's words, I've watched them all, I'm a big fan!

My holidays have been super boring, so far, with the exception of maybe two days.

So, its a serious hurray for downloads, which really saved my life! I have turned into the ultimate movie buff, at the rate of two-three movies a day.

The must-watch ones:

1. Elizabethtown - starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. Nice movie, very feel good ending, brilliant background score! Its about this dude who's lost just about everything in his life and his story henceforth.

2. Beetlejuice - Alec Baldwin, Catherine O'Hara. Yes, I only just watched it, to those of you who just gave me a look of disappointment! But to those of you who haven't, watch it. The movie is really really old, a fantasy fiction, with Winona Ryder in her teens, and Alec Baldwin with absolutely no sarcasm!

3. The Nightmare before Christmas - I'm completely rediscovering Tim Burton. Another fantasy fiction animated part musical. A movie about a Jack o Lantern who discovers Christmas.

4. The Darjeeling Limited - Still in the middle of this one. Starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody nd Jason Schwartzman, a story of three brothers on a journey through India, with a hidden mission that only Owen Wilson knows.

5. Definitely, Maybe - Ryan Reynolds. Very very very cute! A story of how dad met mom, as told to the daughter. Brilliant performances.

The OK-you-can-skip-it-if-you-have-something-else-to-do list:

1. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - I downloaded this one because of Jason Segel. And Mila Kunis. It stars the two and Kristen Bell (XOXO Gosip Girl). OK movie. Its a very very predictable movie, but parts of it are nice, and parts of it are completely unnecessary(by parts, I mean parts of the human anatomy...male!).

2. High Fidelity - John Cusack. Old movie. OK movie. Good music. But feel good factor in the end. All could think of after watching this was, there's some hope left for the dudes in the world!

3. Alfie - If you watch How I Met Your Mother, you've probably seen a much more awesome version of Alfie in Barney Stinson- What up!! The story of a womanizer, impeccably dressed, almost always in suits! When I watched it, I was going, oh my God, Jude Law is so Barney!!

4. Jack and Jill vs. The World - This one was nice, actually. But not a must-watch. Starring Freddie Prinze Jr. Watch it.

The ones you can safely skip:

1. Happy go-lucky - Set in London, this movie's about a woman, who's completely oblivious to what actually happens in life. It received reallt high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, but I couldn't sit through it. May you could, though.

The ones I want to watch:

1. James and The Giant Peach - Download nearly complete! Yippieeeee!:)
2. Marley and Me - Stupid fake torrent.
3. Rachel getting married
4. Nick and Norah's infinite playlist
5. The Reader
6. The Curious case of Benjamin Button
7. Last chance, Harvey
8. Bride Wars

Phew, looks like the rest of my holidays are set!:)

Reviews are welcome!

PS - Also, check this out. Its AWESOME!!

A more detailed explanation of the word 'balance'

My resolution for this post is not to use the word awes***, however tempted I might be.

Hello to you all, from the dark side of the moon!:)

I had a wonderful New Years day, I hope you all did too. Its all quite blurry, I met some new people, and made some new friends, but I don't remember most of it. But it was good. The next day wasn't though. Oh, it was horrible. All I could think of the entire day was, Party Smart. Some kinda antidote to hangovers. I'm still not sure what exactly it was and how exactly it worked, but that's the only thing I could think of.

You know every year I wake up on January 1st and base my entire year on how that first day goes. The first person I speak to, the first song I listen to, blah blah (This year it was R, and the song was I love the whole world:) ), and I think to myself the year's going to be good! (Note I did not use the 'A' word!) But somehow almost always, something else happens, something not so good, maybe not to you though, which leaves you wondering why its so unfair for some others not to have the perfect new year! For instance, I was just looking back and thinking how I had a great time and then I read this. It's just too sad, and the scary part is, a similar thing happened to a couple of friends two years back. They're all hale and hearty though *knock on wood*.

Another great thing about New Year this year is that one of my best friends came down to Bangalore! The crappy part, wait-for-it, is that he'll have to go back soon!

My friends just told me they're taking off to Goa, which is absolutely wow for them! But kinda sucky for me, as I'm left pretty plan-less for the next week!

Good part - The TV shows will be starting again, Gossip Girl(Jan 5), HIMYM, Scrubs(Jan 6), Grey's Anatomy(Jan 9) (sigh its been too long and yes you're all welcome.). Sucky part - Ok its not earth shattering, really, but I'll get to watc it a day late( OH THE HORROR!!!). OK mybe I kinda pushed it.

Anyways, the point I was trying to make, everything just turned into a coin, with the two sides and all that jazz. There's going to be the good, there's going to be the not-so-good! There's going to be the tears, but there definitely will be the laughs. Theres going to be times you want to kill yourself because of the torturous boredom and there're going to be times you're having so much fun you just want it all to slow down! And if you're one of those lucky ones, all these good things are going to be happening in exorbitant doses, I tell you!:) If something bad just happened, let it sink and forget it, because something good is on its way! And whatever did happen happened for a reason, you'll see! Take it all in, as it comes, and exhale! Life is too WOW to be upset about anything!

Good night!:)

PS- why is everyone taking off to Goa!!!??
And youtube I love the whole world. Its way too cute!

Hello, Goodbye!

I woke up at 5.30 a.m today!

Well, it took me a good four hours after that to crawl out of bed, but the point was I was up, and it was still dark outside. Its been a while since..OK, fine, I've never woken up at such a time before! Its probably because I crashed much before even my school curfew last night. But I'm up now, (hmm..its post 9, but you get the drift..) and also, its New Years Eve, our second favourite-st day of the year! I say our because you all obviously have to agree with me on this one, and I say second because the first is obviously my birthday!! (I didn't say our there;)!)

Some things to keep you smiling throughout..:)

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you..
and everything you do, and it was all yellow!
I came along, I wrote a song for you,
and all the things you do, it was called yellow!

Take back the city for yourself tonight..
I'll take back the city for me.
Take back the city for yourself tonight..
Whoa, whoa!

I see trees of green...red roses too,
I see them bloom, for me and for you..
I see skies of blue, clouds of white...
bright blessed days, dark sacred nights...
ans I think to myself....what a wonderful world!

There are some things I'd like to know though:

1. Meatloaf - You'd do anything for love.
You'd do anything for love.
You'd do anything for love.
But you won't do WHAT?

2. Taylor Momsen - Why, why why that hairdo?? Its bad enough you're annoying, now you just look like a poodle whose owner wanted it to look just like her!

3. God - How could you allow me to turn 21!!? Hmph.

Sigh. Moving on..

1st January means so many things. For me, its mainly these:

1. End of exams!
2. End of 7 semesters under VTU!
3. Its going to be the beginning of awesome year!!!
4. Holidays!!
5. Did I already say its going to be awesome? Well, let me just say it again! Its going to be awesome!

OK, before I get back to Fuzzy Logic, Id like to sign off with this.

Someday I'll fly, someday I'll soooaarrrr!
Someday I'll be so damn much mooooorrrre!
Cause I'm bigger than my body, bigger than my body gives me credit for!

Ghajini

It was a happy day for me, I caught Ghajini. First day some second or third show.

Three words. GO WATCH IT.

Before I begin, I'd like to tell you that most of this review will be very biased towards Aamir Khan, because I have been in love with him since I was five years old.

The movie is brilliantly made. Sure, the story is rather unbelievable, but then again, its a Bollywood movie. It keeps you on the edge of your chair, chewing your nails for the complete duration of three and a half hours. Aamir Khan has done an extremely commendable job, portraying Sanjay Singhania, who is, as the villain calls him, a sh-oort term memory loss patient, and an extremely violent one at that. This is one of the few action films Aamir has done, and after Ghajini, he's a certified badass! But what puzzled me was how he became a left hander all of a sudden. Kalpana, the love of Sanjay's life, was played by Asin, a newcomer, whose role is very comparable to Kareena in Jab We Met, and most Priety Zinta roles; a happy, slightly mad, overly talkative blissfully-unaware-about-everything kind of girl. It was nicely done, though her Tamil accent was obvious in a few scenes. But she totally played her role to the part. Jiah Khan was so-so. The only proper dialogue she had throughout the movie was, 'Hi I'm Sunita. I'm a medical student.' Pradeep Rawat is the villain here, as in the Tamil version(you may remember him as the Surd in Lagaan), and yes, he's a super cunning and vile one at that. The film is very graphic (my mom had her eyes shut for very many scenes) and there certainly is a lot of violence in it, though its nothing if you've gotten used to Body of Lies and the likes.

The music, by A R Rahman, speaks for itself. Most of the songs were dream sequences, but songs kind of make or break the Bollywood movie. My favourite was Aye Bachchu and Behka. Guzaarish, I thought was very Suraj Hua Madham. But A R Rahman, as usual has done a superb job. Three cheers!

I give the movie a 4.5/5. Its a must watch. Definitely worth watching in an in-between exams study break, and a very well spent break, at that. Completely worth getting sandwiched for an hour in an attempt to buy tickets. Oh, and the eight pack was highlighted too much, I tell you. Methinks a six pack might've looked much better! But, Ab jaao jaake dekho!

Season's Greetings!!

Haha this probably is the most predictable post ever!

But it is the best time of the year, after all!

So have a super Christmas, binge on some plum cake and Christmas wine, and thank your lucky stars(VTU students), that you have a 5 day break this time around!

Now the ground is (not-so)white, go it while you're young!
Take the girls tonig
ht, and sing the sleighing song!
Just get a bop-tailed bay, two forty for his speed,

Just hitch him to an open sleigh and CRACK! You'll take the lead!!

Happy Holidays, all!!!:):) Make sure you buy a Santa hat and sing carols!! And deck the halls with boughs of holly too!!
P.S - I hope you've been good this year, he's been watching!;)
